Everyone knows about West Edmonton Mall, but where else can you shop in the city to find great deals and plenty of unique products to browse through? There are a number of different malls and trendy strips worth checking out across the YEG. Check out a few of our favourite places to shop in Edmonton to help point you in the right direction for your next shopping spree!
Whyte Avenue & 104th St NW
In Old Strathcona, you’ll find one of the trendiest areas to shop – Whyte Avenue and 104th Street. These two streets are renown for their local and independent shopping scene where you can find all of the specialty, vintage and funky items you need. It’s even been named one of Canada’s five best shopping neighbourhoods!
It’s also home to the Whyte Avenue Art Walk, which includes a number of unique local boutiques, art galleries, music shops, along with trendy restaurants and café’s, making Whyte Avenue one of the coolest areas in the YEG to stroll along. Some must-see stores not to miss include Bamboo Ballroom, Original Apparel and C’est Sera.
If you’re looking for a mall that’s similar to WEM but more unique (and a little less crowded), then head on over to Kingsway Mall. Locals often prefer Kingsway to the West Edmonton Mall since it has all of the major retailers — like Forever 21, Aritzia and Sephora — and it’s much easier to navigate through. And with it being so close to CX Lofts & Townhomes, you’ll be a regular in no time.
South Edmonton Common
The South Edmonton Common is the place to go when you’re looking for some quality outlet stores and all your favourite big box stores. Located right near the Ikea, you’ll find Canada’s largest retail power centre that’s expected to span over 320 acres and contain over 2 million square feet of retail space.
This spot has all of the popular outlet stores like Aldo, Nike, Calvin Klein, Guess, Call It Spring, Sephora and La Vie en Rose. You can also find Indigo, Bed Bath and Beyond, Pier 1 Imports, Staples, Michaels, Walmart, Cineplex Odeon, Mountain Equipment Coop, Best Buy and plenty more!
It literally has everything you need, making it the perfect place to get your summer (and Christmas!) shopping done.
The 124st Street is one of the YEG’s most vibrant shopping areas where you can buy and support local, which is why it’s one of our favourite places to shop in Edmonton! No matter what your style is, you can find it here with over 100 retailers in the area – from boutiques to consignment stores.
High Street, which is just west of 124th Street, also offers a number of impressive specialty stores. Most popular in the area is Vespucci, which contains over 3000 square feet of high-end and casual consignment clothing options for women. And if you’re looking for some hot and trendy fashion accessories, be sure to check out Pear Tree or Miss Boss!
While you’re in the area, you can make a day out of it and explore 10 of the YEG’s most popular art galleries or pop into the assortment of trendy restaurants and cafes for a bite to eat.
