By Serena C.

There’s a reason why they call Edmonton “the City of Festivals”. In the YEG, we like things big and bold! And when it comes to festivals, we do it right. So this summer, come and experience what makes this city one of the greatest in North America. With over 100 festivals every year, there’s literally something for everyone! Here are a few of the best festivals in Edmonton that are guaranteed to make your weekends feel so much sweeter.

On Saturday, June 8th,  watch over 80 show-stopping floats travelling down Old Strathcona to kick off the festivities. There will be dancing in the streets, mingling at the beer gardens, amazing food vendors, drag shows, theatrical productions, merch and more. Don’t forget to grab your tickets to the Pride Awards on June 15th or your Pride Pass that will give you exclusive benefits and free access to a number of popular events.  It’s a fun and exciting 10 day celebrating dedicated to love, respect and equality where everyone is welcome!

Join in one of the biggest food festivals in all of Canada at A Taste of Edmonton! And, while some other cities may offer a Taste Festival, they don’t usually run for a whole 10 days like this one! That’s why Edmonton is renowned for its hard-core foodie scene. This summer, take your taste buds to a whole new level and join hundreds of thousands of other hungry food enthusiasts experiencing the top restaurants and chefs in Western Canada and around the world. You can also check out one of the chef-run workshops and enjoy the best in live music each night of the festival. Last year, the concerts featured some big names like Grandtheft, Bif Naked, Hawksley Workman, The Deep Dark Woods, I Mother Earth, The Orchard, and Whale & The Wolf. We can’t wait to see what this year’s line up will have to offer!

There’s so much to see here. But, if you want an unforgettable VIP experience, you can book with HRR Rentals Sky Dinner that will take you and 3 of your closest friends 20 feet above it all to enjoy a delicious meal, plus 2 bevies and some of the best entertainment. Keep your eyes peeled for the ticket pricing and concert schedule due to come out soon!

When: July 20th to June 22nd, 2018
Schedule: Friday Night, Saturday and Sunday – Details to be released closer to date
Where: Heritage Amphitheatre in Hawrelak Park – 900 Parking spots and also offering Free Shuttle service from University Area

When you’re done filling up at Taste of Edmonton, then it’s time to hurry over to the 6th Annual Interstellar Rodeo. But we should warn you – this is no ordinary Rodeo! This summer festival is a truly unique event with such an amazing combination of offerings, including European and Asian street food, veggie burgers, crafty vendors, and wines and craft beers – it’s so much more than the average Rodeo! And at this rodeo, they offer a VIP experience for everyone who walks through the gates.

So get ready to lounge in your lawn chair or get up on your feet to groove to the impressive line up of entertainment. This year, you can enjoy big headliners like Feist, July Talk, and Courtney Barnett, plus a number of other extremely talented artists that are bound to get the party started! There’s also a secret wine party that will take place, so all of you wine-lovers, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for information that will follow closer to date! This always ends up being one of the best festivals in Edmonton.  So take advantage of beautiful weather (and the free shuttle or bike lock up that are available!) and get ready for some serious fun in the sun this summer!
